Percussionists can now bring musical history to life with Living Sound’s original alla Turca™ triangle. In centuries past, triangles with rings were found in both sacred and secular music. Composers such as Beethoven, Haydn, and Mozart began to use the triangle to evoke the sounds of Turkish Janissary bands—often emulating the jingling sound of the instrument known as the “Turkish Crescent”. This instrument is recommended for all pre-19th Century music, as well as the many orchestral and operatic works that evoke the sounds of Turkish or military music, including Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9”, Haydn’s “Military Symphony” No. 100, Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”, and Rossini’s “Banda Turca” parts. The alla Turca triangle and jingling rings are made of brass. The surface of the instrument is hand-hammered for maximum overtones.
